Biography

In the early 1960s, the original six members of The King's Singers were all choral scholars at King's College, part of Cambridge University. During their time studying at university, they would sing as part of the choir in the daily services at the chapel of King's College. It was against this backdrop of training and experience that the six members began to sing together separately, exploring different types of music. They first recorded in 1965, under the not-so-catchy name 'Schola Cantorum Pro Musica Profana in Cantabridgiense'. On May 1st, 1968, the group, now re-named “The King’s Singers,” made its London debut with famed conductor, Neville Marriner. In 2018, the group celebrated 50 years since that inaugural concert.

Over the course of the group’s history, they have performed in almost every major concert hall in the world, on countless television broadcasts, have released over 150 recordings, and won Grammy and Emmy awards.
